Santiago and Coruña

This trip took us 4 days and we managed to do it all thanks to our friends who drove us around in their car.

We landed in Santiago in order to spend the morning there and later drive all the way to Coruña. Luckily, the cathedral had just been cleaned and it looked bright and clear! All of our friends who had been there before say that it was covered up due to the restoration work in progress or black due to the many years it hadn’t been taken care of.

After that, we drove all the way to the Ribeira Sacra, where we took a boat trip along the Sil river and we saw all the different kinds of vineyards across the valley. It was freezing cold, but the guide explained all the details beautifully in a way even kids were entertained.

The next morning we had breakfast at a very nice cafe (the prices were also really nice!), Pandelino.  We took all the energy we could because we had to fight against the wind and the rain on our way to Hercules Tower. sdrsdr

On average, the food in Coruña is amazing. The seafood, the tapas, everything is delicious and quite cheap. We had some vermouths and these mouth-watering zamburiñas in the Vermutería Martínez.davmde

Later that night, we went to several bars and restaurants in order to have some tapas as dinner and to see the nightlife of Coruña, all around the Rúa Juan Florez.mde

The next day was a very busy one as well.

After visiting one of the coolest beaches to surf, we travelled to San Andrés de Teixido, where we had some percebes and enjoyed the view of the white beautiful houses in the village. One of the coolest things to get there is that you will find horses, cows or even sheep on the way and they are all so cute!sdrdavdav

Finally, in order to see the sunset from a nice place, we went to the “most beautiful bench in the world”, which is wrongly written as “the most beautiful bank in the world”, but the view of the Atlantic is just breathtaking.

On our last day, we did another visit to Hercules Tower and walked around the city. We finished up our visit with an amazing lunch with “centolla”. That’s the female of the “centollo”, a huge crab that tastes way batter than the male.
